How to Edit Your Own AP Student Sample

How to Edit Your Own AP Student SampleAny AP Eng student sample is probably written to prepare the student for the big AP exam. And since AP students are certainly going to be reading the essays too, I thought I'd give you some tips on how to edit your own. There's a lot of information on this site that you can use and a little advice on writing a better English Composition Essay. First, let's start with your structure.Your Structure is key in an English Composition essay. The best way to do this is to break the essay down into logical categories. This helps to focus the reader and also make it easier to read. The first category is your Theme. As I wrote earlier, this is key in that it determines the tone of the essay. So, if you're writing about an essay assignment, for example, then the theme will be that of having to do with paper, class, or even your place of study. In a synthesis essay, you might get to 'work'.The next section is logically the next topic of the essay. It needs to be at least a couple sentences but in a paragraph. The structure of the paragraph should be logical, relevant, and provide a thesis statement. The fourth section of the essay, or your Synthesis, is another guideline to follow. The Synthesis section will include a description of how your paper connects to another topic or two. Try to keep your sentence counts on the shorter side, but always remember to include a thesis statement somewhere.Another important thing you need to know about writing an English Composition Essay is that it needs to be well organized. This means all of your content has to flow seamlessly and be completely flow-able. If you start to see gaps in your essays, remember to put them back in somewhere in the middle of the essay or close to the beginning. You've already seen that the first idea of a Synthesis essay is that of 'flow'. A good idea on how to make this a reality is to write more than one essay and present them separately to your instructor. This way, you c an test them individually without the rest of the class reading it or learning it, and therefore, will benefit your future grades and test scores.
